So you want to learn to fly!  

What are the requirements necessary to obtain a Private Pilot License?
 
1.  Obtain a FAA Medical Certificate from an Aviation Medical Examiner
2.  Pass a written test consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions with a score of 70% or better.
3.  Obtain a total of at least 40 hours of flight time.  Within the minimum 20 hours of dual, you must have:
 
        A.  3 hours of cross-country (i.e. to other airports).
        B.  3 hours at night, including 1 night cross-country and 10 takeoffs and landings, to a full stop.
        C.  3 hours of flight instruction specifically in preparation for the Private Pilot practical test within 60 days prior to the test.
        D.  3 hours of instrument flight training in an airplane.
        E.  10 hours of solo flight time in an airplane, including at least:
 
                1.  5 hours of cross-country flights.
                2.  3 solo takeoffs and landings to a full stop at an airport with an operating control tower.
                3.  One solo cross-country flight of at least 150NM total distance, with full-stop landings at a minimum of three points and with one segment consisting of a distance of at least 50NM
                4.  Successfully complete a Practical Flight Test, which will be given as a "final exam" by an FAA inspector or designated examiner.
