Aspen Flying Club, located at Centennial airport (KAPA) in Englewood, Colorado, is introducing its Rocky Mountain Flying Adventure. This Adventure offers completely customizable packages focused on teaching safe mountain flying techniques in the demanding, yet beautiful Colorado high country.
With 54 peaks over 14,000 feet tall and hundreds of thousands of square miles of rugged and isolated terrain, Colorado offers a flying experience like none other.
Aspen Flying Club instructors (including two NAFI Master CFI's) have been helping pilots learn safe mountain flying technique for 30 years. Our goals for each pilot are to familiarize them with the challenges of very high density altitudes, unique mountain weather, and use of limited access airports, while showing our clients the overwhelming magnitude and beauty of the Rocky Mountains."
There are three primary routes, although they can be completely tailored to each pilot's desires, The northern route includes a landing at Steamboat Springs(KSBS), the Central route will take the pilot into Leadville (KLXV) landing at 9927'msl and Aspen (KASE), and the Southern route can include Telluride(KTEX) and Gunnison-Crested Butte (KGUC). We will even buy your lunch!
Each adventure will include a half-day ground school, and the next day will be your flight. You will receive checklists and training materials, including a book with aerial photos and layouts of all the Colorado airports. You will also get a chart with all the routes, airports and passes. There is a hotel at Centennial Airport, walking distance from Aspen Flying Club, and your room is included in the package.
The Rocky Mountain Flying Experience can be combined with your Fight Review, IPC or aircraft checkout.
You can also bring your family for a Colorado vacation.
Cost breakdown:
Northern and Central packages, each: $1,300
Southern package: $1,800
Each package includes a two night hotel stay, training materials, instructor time and aircraft rental. The aircraft will generally be a Cessna 182, but we also have other aircraft, including the
